About the NHS Foundation

The mission of the NHS Foundation is to support the individuals and families served by NHS Human Services (NHS) and to secure the programs that make a difference in so many lives daily.

NHS, through its subsidiaries, is a community-based, non-profit organization with 40 years of experience serving the special needs of children and adults.  As a leading provider of community-based behavioral healthcare for the public-sector, NHS offers a full range of integrated  services in the areas of behavioral health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, addictive diseases, therapeutic foster care, juvenile justice, and elder care.

NHS serves over 50,000 individuals throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Virginia and Louisiana.  NHS is proud to enlist a deeply committed and highly renowned staff of human services professionals with years of front-line experience.  At each of its nationally recognized programs, NHS employees bring compassion and commitment to their daily work and to the individuals they serve.The work of NHS is anchored in the firm belief that it is every individual's right to achieve growth, dignity, and fulfillment in their lives.

While government funding for human service programs dwindles, the scope and needs of NHS clients continues to grow.  NHS, without hesitation, provides services to some of the most challenging and vulnerable individuals today.  Where cuts in program, staffing and care are accepted as inevitable by some organizations, the NHS Foundation has been established to gain greater control over NHS’ ability to serve its consumers, while maintaining and, indeed, growing critical programs.

Through regional activities and our signature corporate events, the NHS Foundation Golf Outing and the Leading the Way Gala, the NHS Foundation has been successful in raising money to support the special needs of our programs.   The success of the NHS Foundation is due to the ongoing and generous support of NHS staff, friends and corporate partners.  This generosity can be seen in many ways throughout our programs.  The following examples are just a few ways your generous support has impacted our clients:
